[ooc] World Building

Name: Damian Bilal Razem
Age: 14 13 11
Notable Aliases: Robin, Hafiz the Preserver, Damian Wayne
Universe: Batman Beyond (with a side order of The 99)
Parents: Dr. Ramzi Razem and Dana Ibrahim Razem (biologically, Bruce Wayne and Dana Razem)
Favorite Foods: Musakhan, Mango Lassi, chocolate

Important Notes:

+ Biologically, Damian's parents are Bruce Wayne and Dana (nee Ibrahim) Razem. Like Terry, Damian was part of the Batman Beyond project. However, he was raised by Dr. Ramzi and Mrs. Dana Razem as part of their family and treated as their biological son. Thus, Damian doesn't feel obligated to Bruce Wayne.

+ Damian didn't inherit Dana's light-based superpowers. Instead, his older brother Sharif and his younger sister Hajra inherited them. His older sister, Farah Razem, is powerless like Damian.

+ Day suffered from middle child syndrome pre-WR. His parents are incredibly loving, but they also occasionally neglected him for work. Understandably, being attention-deprived did a number on Damian's psyche.

+ The Razem nuclear family consists of Dr. Ramzi Razem, Dana Razem, Damian, and his siblings Sharif (19 years old), Farah (16 years old) and Hajra (9 years old). They're "quirky", to put it lightly.

+ In 2043, Damian is the Robin to Terry's Batman. Damian's reaction to Dick in the cowl has always been along the lines of "what the slag?" because Dick never struck Damian as the kind to take up the mantle. Notably, Dick Grayson is also a doctor in this universe.

+ Damian's language is slightly similar to canon in that he swears whenever possible. His swearing consists entirely of future slang, so he gets away with it pretty easily. (His favorite words are "zift" = idiot, "slagged" = fucked/shit, depending on the context, "fragged" = strongest form of fucked, and "grife" = crap).

+ The Beyond Batfamily consists of:
Terry McGinnis | Batman
Charlie Gage-Radcliffe | Batgirl
Damian Razem | Robin
Noah Drake | Spoiler (Tim Drake & Stephanie Brown's son)
Jason Young (Alternate Universe Jason Todd; Barbara Gordon's son who is Neo-Gotham's District Attorney)
Max Gibson | Oracle
Carrie Kelly | Huntress
(In Damian's universe, Cass Cain is Terry's daughter; Stephanie Brown is Tim's wife. Both Steph and Tim are civilians, unlike their son.)

+ Damian, like his peers, loves pop culture. He regained his video game collection for Christmas 2011, and can spend hours upon hours playing random gems like Uncharted Racing and Portal 12.
** In the event that someone from the Uncharted or Portal series enrolls in Garden, Damian's games will change to vague parodies of both.

+ He's also addicted to comic books, and is rarely seen without one. He's especially fond of one series published in Garden that focuses on steampunk pirates, but he read all of the Tintin comic books (and Richie Rich) back on Earth.
** His favorite series is The Sky Pirates of Aselia. (He isn't a fan of The Sea Pirates of Aqualin, but he does appreciate the parallels between both worlds.)

+ TV isn't something Damian's obsessed with, but he admits to knowing Tom and Jerry pretty well. He also likes calling people "Speedy Gonzales" in reference to the mouse from the Looney Tunes show. (He won't openly admit it, he's also a big Disney fan.)

+ Secretly, Damian's still a big Batman fan. He collected merchandise back home and knew their whereabouts--and even though he's Robin now, he still feels incredibly honored to be something he's admired for so many years. If someone offers him Batman merchandise, he will take it without fail. (This is a reference to DCAU Damian being a mix of DCU Steph and DCU Damian, with some of DCU Tim's traits.)

+ Fluent in Arabic, Spanish, Farsi, and English. His first language is actually Spanish, but Damian'd rather die before admitting that, especially since he attended American schools. He also knows enough Qur'anic verse off-hand to recite surahs backwards and forwards. (He knows a little bit of French - his mom and dad both lived in Paris for many years - but not enough to survive in the streets alone.)

+ Born and raised in the Muslim world of the 99, Damian doesn't have a Noor stone inside of him - that honor goes to his friend Colin Wilkes, Haq the Truthful - but he knows all the cliches and nuances of superhero life from the 99's perspective. (His older brother, Sharif, is also Noor the Light, so Damian's used to secret-keeping.)

+ re: Damian and religion, Damian's a Sunni Muslim and practices according to their beliefs and traditions. Unlike very strict Muslims, he's looser about his code of halal (if it isn't pork or alcohol, he'll eat it; he just prefers halal meat).

+ He also hates missing prayers. A lot. (Terry's probably gotten mad at him for just stopping in the middle of patrol to pray Maghrib/Isha.) Ramadan's similarly important to him; he'll fast to the best of his ability.

+ On that same note, Damian doesn't believe in romantic relationships. A) He's thirteen. b) He's Muslim and cannot sustain deep romantic relationships even as an adult. (Crushing on him's fine, but he'll outright reject you if you take it further.)

+ No one in Batman Beyond knows that Damian's parents are related to the 99, nor does Damian want them to know. As far as he's concerned, never the Batfamily and the Gembearers should meet. (They wouldn't get along anyways: they're pretty much the antithesis of each other.)
